About the project
Safeling is a project created to give young people safe and positive alternatives to gambling. Our mission is to educate and empower young people to make responsible choices and avoid the harmful effects of gambling, while simultaneously promoting safe alternatives. Traditional prevention campaigns often fail to connect with teenagers because they sound too formal, too judgmental, or disconnected from everyday life. The Safeling partners noticed that young people respond better when prevention is connected to something they already enjoy. Through our innovative approach, we strive to create a safer and healthier future for the next generation.
Gambling is becoming more visible to young people than ever before, especially online. Around Europe, more and more teenagers are exposed to online betting, sports gambling, and flashy digital games that can lead to risky habits. Many of these activities are promoted in places where young people spend their time - on social media, in sports, and even in video games. Safeling was born from the idea that the best way to protect young people is through fun, movement, and real-life support. Instead of telling teens what not to do, Safeling gives them alternatives that build confidence, decision-making skills, and healthier habits.

Safeling objectives
Raise Awareness
Help young people understand what gambling is, how it is promoted, and what risks it carries — without judgment or fear tactics.
Offer Healthy Alternatives
Use sport and physical activity as fun, positive ways to spend time, build resilience, and strengthen social bonds.
Create Easy-to-Use Tools
Develop an education pack with short lesson plans, activities, and three short videos that youth workers, teachers, and coaches can use straight away.
Train and Support Professionals
Equip coaches, teachers, and community leaders with the skills and confidence to talk about gambling risks and run Safeling activities.
Engage Communities
Run pilot events, local sports sessions, and online campaigns that reach young people in their own environments — whether that's on TikTok, Instagram, or at the local sports hall.
Build a Network for the Future
Create connections between schools, sports clubs, and youth organisations so the Safeling approach continues even after the project ends.
